Letter: Veterans Day program was inspirational

Editor,

I would like to extend our deepest appreciation for the wonderful Veterans Program held at Oak Harbor High School. The event was truly inspiring and a moving tribute to the men and women who have served our country.

The program’s music, singers and speakers created a heartfelt atmosphere that honored our veterans in a meaningful way. The display of the flag by the fire department was beautiful. The young men and women of the ROTC were so sharply dressed, welcoming and courteous and helped many of us old vets into their seats as did the ushers. Especially noteworthy were the lovely tributes to veterans written by elementary school children and displayed throughout the hallways and auditorium. Their moving words reflected genuine respect and gratitude, and seeing their messages was profoundly touching.

A special thank you goes to the teachers who guided and encouraged these students to express their patriotism so beautifully. Their efforts not only honored our veterans but also instilled in the next generation an appreciation for the sacrifices made in service to our nation.

This program was a shining example of community spirit and respect, and it will be remembered with gratitude.

Let us all remember that “All gave some, but some gave all.”
