Cut the ridicule and work together

Why does the paper continue to print the rantings of people who have nothing more than character assassination as a message?

I believe that people want to elect the best and brightest to public office. People who will serve their communities with integrity and honesty. But when letters like Bill Burnett hit the paper with such regularity, people become embittered and cynical. Families are impacted by the slander.

Mr. Burnett has never let the truth get in the way of his letter writing and the last one was no exception.

It takes a tremendous amount of self sacrifice and energy to hold public office. We want qualified people who hold the public interest at heart working for us. We want people who believe in a bright future and are willing to work hard towards improving our community. People who are willing to make the tough decisions in public and stand up for their decisions. People who can streamline government processes, reduce government spending when appropriate and who will advocate for our communities needs. We want all of this and more. What are we the people, willing to give to support these people we elect?

If all you ever have to offer is ridicule, criticism and threats then you really have nothing much to offer. Rather than that, let’s roll up our sleeves and work together to elect good people to office and then let’s help them be successful in their jobs.
