Breaking into the win column for the first time this season in league play, the Oak Harbor High School soccer team trimmed Lynnwood 1-0 Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

The Wildcats (1-3, 2-4) sent the Royals to their fifth straight defeat.

After a scoreless first half and with 15 minutes remaining in the match, Peyton Rhyne connected from long range to tally the contest’s lone goal.

“The entire defense played fairly well and helped Tiana Jackson get the shutout in goal,” coach Mike Lonborg said.

The Wildcats held possession “pretty well” at the defensive end and at midfield but struggled each time they attempted to attack, according to Lonborg.

Oak Harbor plays first-place Edmonds-Woodway (4-0, 6-0) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Lynnwood High School.
