Marysville-Pilchuck spoiled Senior Night as the Tomahawks defeated the Oak Harbor High School boys wrestling team 53-19 Tuesday, Jan. 22, in the final home match of the season for the Wildcats.

The 10th-ranked Tomahawks (5-0, 10-0) remained in first place in the Wesco North with the win; Oak Harbor (0-5, 7-9) remained in last.

“These two teams are great competitors and enjoy this dual,” Oak Harbor coach Larry Falcons said. “These kids support one another and create a great matchup when they meet in a dual or a tournament.

“There is a great respect for each other, and the spirit of competition is at a high level. There was no match tonight that was not a great battle.”

The best battle came in the opening bout between Oak Harbor’s Blake McBride and M-P’s Isaiah Galindo at 152 pounds.

Earlier this season, Galindo, ranked third in the state at 145 pounds, defeated McBride, ranked fifth at 145, in overtime.

This time McBride prevailed with a take down in overtime to win 3-1.

Caleb Fitzgerald (132 pounds) won 13-4 and Cole Valdez (106) and Timothy Powers (113) each won by forfeit to score Oak Harbor’s other points.

Oak Harbor closes out the regular season at 12th-ranked Stanwood (3-1, 7-1) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24.
