Down two starters, the Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team was no match for visiting Meadowdale as the Mavericks left town with a 47-25 win Tuesday, Jan. 8.
Wildcats Miranda Wilson and Payton Parks missed the game because of injuries.
The Oak Harbor offense was consistent but not productive enough, scoring 7 points in each of the first three quarters. The Wildcats trailed 12-7, 23-14 and 43-21 after the first three periods.
Meadowdale (2-3, 7-4) put the game away with a 20-point third quarter. Lilly Williams scored 12 of her game high 19 points in the frame.
Oak Harbor was led by Jasmine Ford with 8 points. Grace Waite had 5, Mikhaela Cortez 3, Anna Jones 3, Olivia Waite 2, Sarah Mensah 2 and Tiana Jackson 2.
Coach Jon Atkins saw some positives in the loss: “Mikhaela and Jasmine played really great defense; Grace Waite came in as a freshmen and knocked down some shots.”
The Wildcats (0-6, 3-9) play at Mountlake Terrace (1-4, 3-8) at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, followed by a home game with Shorecrest (5-1, 10-1) at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
