Nothing like getting a little revenge while wrapping up the conference crown.

The Coupeville High School tennis team edged visiting Chimacum 4-3 Thursday, May 3, to win its fourth straight Olympic League 1A championship.

The victory also avenged a 4-3 loss to Chimacum April 24, the Wolves’ only league loss in 21 matches during their four-year run in the conference.

Coupeville (5-1, 7-8) used its superior depth to sweep all four doubles matches to clip the Cowboys (4-2, 5-8).

Winners in first through fourth doubles were Payton Aparicio and Sage Renninger (6-0, 6-0), Avalon Renninger and Tia Wurzrainer (6-1, 6-3), Maggie Crimmins and Kameryn St. Onge (6-1, 6-3), and Claire Mietus and Jillian Mayne (6-3, 6-0).

Missing two varsity starters, Coupeville coach Ken Stange had to shuffle his lineup.

Jaimee Masters and Emily Fielder made their varsity debuts in second and third singles. Masters lost 6-0, 6-0 and Fielder fell 6-2, 6-4.

Heather Nastali dropped the first singles match 6-1, 6-0.

Coupeville hosts the Olympic League 1A championship tournament at 10:45 a.m. Monday, May 7.
