Meadowdale bunched its offense in one inning to defeat the visiting Oak Harbor High School baseball team 3-0 Thursday, March 29.
The Mavericks (2-0, 4-1) had only five hits off Oak Harbor pitcher Jack Lovendale, but three came wrapped around a hit batter in the fifth inning to produce the game’s only runs.
The Wildcats had two more hits than Meadowdale but couldn’t push any base runners home.
Two Oak Harbor hits came in the first inning, but a double play ended the threat. Thomas Anderson led off the second with a double but was unable to score. Leadoff batters reached in the next two innings as well but were stranded.
Anderson finished with two hits, and Austin Boesch, Aaron Martinez, Donnie Kloewer, Joe Dixon and James Besaw all singled for the Wildcats.
Oak Harbor (0-5, 0-6) hosts Shorecrest (0-4, 0-7) at 4 p.m. Friday, March 30.
