Wolves, North Mason fight to draw / Soccer

The Coupeville High School soccer came from two goals down and then held on at the end to finish in a 3-3 tie at North Mason in a non-league match Thursday, March 22.

The Bulldogs jumped to a 2-0 lead on an own goal and taking advantage of a loose ball off a corner kick.

The Wolves struck for two quick goals after halftime to tie the game. William Nelson corralled a loose ball and drove it home for one score, and Derek Leyva tallied off a counter attack.

Levya struck again on another counter to give Coupeville the lead, then North Mason (1-2-2) hit the equalizer with about five minutes remaining.

From there, the Wolves “held on with some scrambling defense,” according to coach Kyle Nelson.

Coupeville (1-0, 2-1-1) gets back into Olympic League play when it hosts Klahowya (2-0, 2-1-1) at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 24.
