Wildcat Battalion continues winning ways / JROTC

As has become the norm, the Oak Harbor High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Corps drill and rifle teams monopolized the awards stand in Everett at the latest competition Saturday, Jan. 28.
The event featured seven North Puget Sound schools with Navy, Army, Air Force and Marine Corps JROTC units.
Wildcat Battalion won four of the six team events and six of the eight individual events.
In team competition, Oak Harbor’s armed drill, physical strength No. 1, sporter rifle and precision rifle squads all claimed first.
The unarmed drill and physical strength No. 2 teams took second, and color guard No. 2 finished fourth.
In physical strength among males, Oak Harbor claimed the first three spots: Jose Cabigting, Dylan Sanchez and Alex Hartley.
Among the females, Wildcats went 1-3-4: Chante Powell, Taylor Kesler and Autumn Coker.
In dual unarmed exhibition drill, Jhaylan Munger and Kelvin Canonizado were first, just ahead of teammates Kanoa King and Deither Tabucol.
Jonathan Francisco and Dylan Angell nabbed first in individual exhibition drill; Tristin Macaluso and Kyle Torres took fourth.
Hartley was second in unarmed drill commander competition, and Francisco was fourth among armed drill team commanders.
The Wildcat rifle teams dominated. Elena Flake and Austin McBride went 1-2 and Michael White and Julia Flake 4-5 in precision.
Steven Richards and Jason Montano claimed the first two places out of 50 competitors in sporter, while Lauren Crossley finished fifth.
Wildcat Battalion travels to Marysville-Pilchuck High School Saturday, Feb. 11, for the next competition.
