Evelyn Mae Jenkins

Evelyn Mae Jenkins died peacefully on July 5, 2010 at San Juan Rehabilitation and Care Center, Anacortes, at the age of 84. She was born in Leroy, Kan., on Oct. 14, 1925 to George and Maude Manson.

Evelyn was married to Julius Jenkins on June 30, 1944 in Signal Hill, Calif. Following the war, Evelyn and Julius settled in LoMita, Calif. In 1976, they moved to Oak Harbor. They left Oak Harbor in 1982 for Long Beach, Calif., but returned to Oak Harbor in 1988 to stay. She was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church of Oak Harbor.

Evelyn is survived by four sons: Paul Frederick Jenkins of Indiana; David Jenkins of California; Steve Jenkins of Mexico and Michael Jenkins of Virginia and by her nephew John Anglin and his wife Paris of Oak Harbor. Eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive. Her husband Julius and one sister Sue Anglin preceded her in death.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at the First Reformed Church of Oak Harbor on Wednesday, July 14, at noon with Pastor Jon Brown officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
