A district tournament win by the Oak Harbor High School boys basketball team and a second-place finish in the team standings at district by the Wildcat swim and dive team highlighted Saturday’s post-season prep action.

Basketball
Denzel Massey scored 23 points and Jay Stout 22 to guide Oak Harbor to a 59-45 win at Sedro-Woolley in a loser-out game. The Wildcats hope to stay alive for a state berth when they travel to Mountlake Terrace Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m. Oak Harbor needs to win two straight to pick up the district’s third and final state spot.
Coupeville lost at ninth-ranked University Prep 59-41 and was eliminated from tri-district. Hunter Hammer scored 13 points and Ian Smith 11 for the Wolves.
Swimming
Oak Harbor finished second (346.5-293) to Shorewood at the 3A district finals in Anacortes.
Four individuals and all three Oak Harbor relay teams qualified for the state meet in Federal Way next weekend by finishing among the top three at district.
Price Hu (100 butterfly, 54.79) and Jacob Jepsen (100 backstroke, 55.15) won individual titles. Jepsen (2:01.99) and Hu also finished 2-3 in the 100-yard individual medley.
Yale Rosen nabbed two seconds (50 free, 22.62; 100 breaststroke, 1:02.22), and Brandon Vagt was second to Hu in the fly (56.28).
All three relay teams placed second: 200 medley, Jacob Jepsen, Rosen, Vagt, Josh Jepsen, 1:42.76; 200 free relay, Josh Jepsen, Jacob Jepsen, Hu, Rosen, 1:33.88; and 400 free relay, Devin Schell, Caley Powers, Vagt, Hu, 3:32.29.
Coupeville’s Cole Weinstein qualified for the 2A state meet and finished third in the 500 (5:06.58) and fourth in the 200 (1:55.42) at district.
Wrestling
Oak Harbor will send three boys and two girls to the state finals next weekend in Tacoma after finishing among the top four at the regional meet at Glacier Peak: Corey Trimbur (second place, 103 pounds), Brandon Stratton (second, 145), Cody Fakkema (third, 119), Jennifer Fremd (second, 140) and Bailey Martinez (third, 140).
Wildcat coach Mike Crebbin was selected Regional Coach of the Year.
Oak Harbor finished seventh in the team standings.
