Senators should have cut pay

The Skagit Valley Herald on March 15 printed the voting records of our elected officials on a variety of issues. At this time when our country is struggling to recover economically, it is most disheartening to view the attitude of our two senators and their vote to continue the automatic system of granting themselves a cost of living raise each January.

What an opportunity it would have been had they elected to show their constituents a true interest in being a part of the overall recovery plan by putting a hold on this particular perk. Personal welfare, and perhaps greed, seems to have overcome a desire to render aid in the interest of our nation. Look well at your ballot next election.
