Ginny Coyle of Maryland, this year’s winner of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County Helicopter Golf Ball Drop, learned of the good news from her sister Marilee Seligson of Langely, who purchased the winning ball that morning, and called her sister from the green to report the good news.
This year, the helicopter poured 1,059 golf balls onto a large target painted on the green. Second prize, four rounds of golf and carts at Useless Bay Golf and Country Club, went to Susan Clements and third prize, two night at Manresa Castle in Port Townsend, went to Erin Cook.
The real winners, however, are the boys and girls who reap the benefits of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, who are helped by all those people who purchased a chance at a winning golf ball.
Event sponsors included Edwards & Associates CPA’s, Payless Foods, Freeland Shell, Short Stop Texaco, Hanson’s Building, First Island Financial, Sound Planning Services, The Clyde Theatre, Waterman Self Storage, Whidbey Island Bank, The Star Store and Davido Consulting.
