Oak Harbor physical education teachers Chad and Mikki Boyer have a daughter, 11-year-old Sydney, who was diagnosed with bone cancer.
The illness will require her to stay in Seattle for at least the next 30 weeks.
The Boyers will need to stay close to Sydney during her treatment and recovery, so friend and Crescent Harbor Elementary P.E. teacher, Justin Ronning, hopes people can help defray the costs.
“As you can imagine this situation is not only very emotionally stressful, but financially trying for them as well. We all know that lodging, meals, and the like are very expensive in Seattle,” Ronning said.
Ronning set up an account at Alaska USA Credit Union in Oak Harbor.
Those wishing to help the family can donate to the Sydney Boyer Donation Account at either Alaska USA Credit Union, located on Midway Boulevard and inside of Albertson’s.
