Wildcats earn playoff berth with win | Volleyball

Clinching a spot in the district tournament, the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team tripped up visiting Mountlake Terrace 3-1 Monday, Oct. 27.
The Wildcats (8-3, 8-5), who won 25-12, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15, are tied with Arlington (8-3, 9-4) for third place in the Wesco 3A standings but hold just a one-match advantage in the loss column over the seventh-place team. Eighth-place Glacier Peak is two games back of Oak Harbor with only one left.
The top seven move on to district.
Oak Harbor closes out the regular season with a trip to first-place Shorewood (10-1, 10-4) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29.
In the win over Mountlake Terrace (2-9, 2-11), Oak Harbor was “in control” throughout the first two sets, according to coach Kerri Molitor.
After an error-filled third game, the Wildcats got back into synch for the fourth-set win, she said.
Claire Anderson had 14 kills and Amelia Berner six with the help of 14 assists from Hailey Beecher and 13 assists from Natalie McVey.
McVey also fired seven aces.
Priya Osborne led the defense with 24 digs.
