The Oak Harbor fastpitch team collected only two hits and lost 4-0 at Meadowdale Friday, April 15.

The lack of offense wasted a strong pitching performance by Wildcat Amanda Pavey who tossed a five-hitter with five strike outs, two walks and only one earned run against the league’s top team.

The Mavericks (9-0, 6-0) touched Pavey for a home run in the second inning, and then added three unearned runs in the fifth.

Oak Harbor coach Jess Weikle said Pavey “had a great game,” and, although the Wildcats had just two hits, said she was pleased with the Oak Harbor hitters.

Weikle said, “We had only four strikeouts and put the ball into play against one of the league’s fastest pitchers…We had better pitch selection while hitting.”

Pavey and Emily Saar had Oak Harbor’s hits, both doubles.

Overall, Weikle said it was a “great game.”

She added, “The girls had a lot of energy…We are being competitive later into games.”

The Wildcats (1-8, 1-6) play three home games next week, starting with a nonleague game with Lake Stevens (4-4, 2-4) Monday, April 18, at 4 p.m.
