The Oak Harbor fastpitch team generated too many errors and not enough hits in a 5-0 loss at Glacier Peak Thursday, March 24.
The Wildcats’ lone hit came in the sixth on a single by Nichelle Trumbull.
Four of the Grizzlies’ five runs were unearned. GP scored two runs in the second, one in the third and two in the sixth on only one hit off Oak Harbor pitcher Emily Hunt. Five errors, a walk, a hit batter and three wild pitches aided the Glacier Peak offense in those three innings.
Callie Bircher tossed the one-hitter for Glacier Peak, striking out 12.
Wildcat coach Jess Weikle said, “Our goal is to out hit our errors, but we are having trouble doing that.”
Oak Harbor (1-4, 1-1) plays Lynnwood (2-3) Friday, March 25, at 4 p.m. at Hillcrest Elementary School. The Wildcats go to Shorewood (2-3) Wednesday, April 6, at 4 p.m.
