A woman called 911 Thursday morning and reported finding some bazookas in a dumpster off NE Midway Boulevard in Oak Harbor.

And sure enough, police responded and found two shoulder-fired rocket launchers in the trash, along with some old military-style boots. Fortunately, the bazookas were empty, having been fired long ago.

“The military routinely disposes of them,” Oak Harbor Police Sgt. John Dyer said. “They pose no danger to anyone.”

A special agent from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service picked up the used-up rocket launchers and gave them to Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal to dispose of.
