Cubs trip ’Cats / Girls basketball

Sedro-Woolley pulled away in the second half to beat the visiting Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team 49-37 in a non-league game Friday, Dec. 9.

The Cubs held narrow leads of 14-12 and 20-19 after the first two quarters, then outscored the Wildcats 29-18 after halftime.

Oak Harbor’s Bryn Langrock scored all 11 of her points in the first half to help the Wildcats keep it close, then Jordan Wood-Pina pumped in a trio of three-pointers after the break in an effort to keep the ‘Cats in contact.

Sedro-Woolley’s Samantha Cox scored a game-high 21 points, tallying 13 in the fourth quarter to fight off any Wildcat comeback attempt.

Only four Wildcats scored in the game. Langrock and Wood-Pina finished with 11 each, Julie Jansen had 9 and Rashanna Graham 7.

Oak Harbor (2-3) begins Western Conference play when it travels to Lynnwood (2-3) at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14.
