North Whidbey, Anacortes meet for district title | 9/10 Baseball

Anacortes answered every North Whidbey challenge to win 7-4 in the first game of the championship series in the District 1 9/10 baseball tournament at Windjammer Park Saturday, July 11.

The two teams meet again at noon Sunday in a winner-to-state, loser-out game.

North Whidbey took an early lead with two runs in the second inning, and Anacortes responded with three runs in the third.

North Whidbey reclaimed the lead with two runs in the fourth inning, and Anacortes countered with two runs in the fourth and single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Jacob Figarelle paced the North Whidbey offense with two RBI.

Jackson Wesley had “two good at bats,” according to coach Don Jenkins, finishing with a hit and RBI.

Karyn Hardy “pitched well,” Jenkins said.
