Whidbey Wildcat wrestlers wanted
The Whidbey Wildcat Wrestling Club, a nonprofit local youth wrestling team for kids ages 5 through 18, announces registration for the upcoming season.
The team practices Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week in the mat room at Oak Harbor High School.
There will be several tournaments scheduled this season along with three that the Wildcats will be hosting in Oak Harbor.
The cost to wrestle is $85, which includes a singlet, T-shirt and shorts. A separate USA Wrestling card must be purchased prior to/or at the first practice.
Registration will be held at the OHHS mat room Oct. 13, 15 and 16.

Calling all Snowriders
The South Whidbey Parks and Recreation Department announces registrations are now being taken for the Snowrider program.
The adult program is on Tuesdays and the youth half of the program is scheduled for Saturdays.
The parks department has pick ups scheduled for Coupeville and South Whidbey, plus a pick up in Everett on the Tuesday bus.

Anyone needing outdoor gear, mark this date on your calendar: Mount Pilchuck Ski and Sport in Everett is having a private Whidbey ski sale at the store from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Plan to hit the slopes
Plans are underway for the 2009 ski season at Stevens Pass with Sandi’s Snowbuster ski bus.
The first trip is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Every Tuesday for eight weeks, the bus will leave from the Safeway parking lot at 6:45 a.m. and from the Soundview Shopper at 7 a.m. for a day on the slopes.
The cost for all eight weeks is $225 per person, or $120 for four weeks.
The fee includes beverages, donuts and a gratuity for the bus driver.
Walk-ons are charged $35 per trip.
The bus will leave Stevens Pass at 4 p.m. for the return trip.
A $50 deposit to hold your space is required by Oct. 24.

Basketball officials needed
Training of prospective and current girls basketball officials will begin Monday, Oct. 20,
The Northwest Board of Basketball Officials is seeking members to referee high school and middle school girls basketball for the upcoming season.
The NWB provides officials for games in Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan counties.
“We need young people and adults who enjoy girls basketball and want to contribute to its quality,” said Ron Van Soest, NWB president. “With so many schools in our coverage area, there are plenty of opportunities to officiate and supplement one’s income. We provide training and mentoring for all new officials.”
Training classes for new and returning members start at 7 p.m. at Alfy’s Pizza, 1060 S. Burlington Blvd., Burlington.
