The Stanwood High School tennis team held on to a piece of first place by defeating visiting Oak Harbor 7-0 Thursday, Oct. 9.

The Spartans improved to 7-1 (8-3) and are tied for first in the Western Conference 3A North with Everett.

Oak Harbor (4-4, 4-6) is tied for third with Arlington.

The Wildcats play Marysville-Pilchuck (0-8, 1-11) at home at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13.

Results versus Stanwood:

Singles: 1, Jackson Wezeman lost 6-2, 6-2; 2, Carter Saar lost 6-2, 7-5; 3, Tom Dale lost 6-0, 6-0; 4, Raymond Paraiso lost 7-5, 7-6(4).

Doubles: 1, Kyle Martin/Jared Alano-Gray lost 6-1, 6-1; 2, Jared Hunt/Alexander Smith lost 6-3, 6-3; 3, Matthew Hallahan/Calib Byers lost 6-0, 6-0.
