Recording its first conference win of the season, the Oak Harbor High School soccer team clipped Meadowdale 2-1 Thursday, Oct. 9, at Edmonds Stadium.

The Wildcats scored in the first half when Alyssa Cross drove home a goal off an assist from Hayley Lundstrom.

Oak Harbor tallied again in the second half when Jen Turnek netted an unassisted goal.

Meadowdale (0-6-1, 1-7-2) trimmed the lead late with a goal off a free kick with two minutes left.

Oak Harbor coach Mike Lonborg said it was a “sloppy game” but it is good to get the win.

“Lots of room for improvement,” he added. “Our passing was inconsistent.”

The Wildcats (1-3-2, 5-3-2) are back on the road for a 7:30 p.m. match with Mountlake Terrace (3-3-1, 4-5-2) at Lynnwood High School Tuesday, Oct. 14.
