Hammitt wins flight at nationals | Island Flyers

Lilly Hammitt of the Island Flyers won her flight in one event and finished in the top 10 in two others last month at the National Tumbling and Trampoline Championships in Kansas City.

Lilly Hammitt of the Island Flyers won her flight in one event and finished in the top 10 in two others last month at the National Tumbling and Trampoline Championships in Kansas City.

Hammitt captured her Level 5 trampoline flight and finished 19th overall while posting one of her best scores of the season, according to coach Pam Lovett.

Hammitt also placed ninth (52nd overall) in her Level 5 tumbling flight and 10th (46th overall) in Level 6 double mini, where she achieved her goal of hitting her second pass, according to Lovett.

Over 2,100 athletes competed in the meet, which included four days of practice and three days of competition.

The athletes were divided into flights based on age and level and received awards for those divisions as well as for the entire age group of each event.
