William H. Bryant

William Harry Bryant passed away on Oct. 25, 2010. He was born to Harry and Lillian (Maiers) Bryant on April 2, 1917 in Seattle. He attended schools in Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington in June, 1940, with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Bill married Cassie Anderson in May of 1941. Following that, he served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army in World War ll, attending schools in Harvard and MIT, where he specialized in classified radar maintenance.

Bill worked for Boeing from 1950 until 1973 in the missile guidance systems. During his time, he was active as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 360, guiding 15 Scouts, including his three sons, to Eagle and God and Country awards.

He was a member of the Burien Presbyterian Church and was active in their building programs. After his retirement he moved to San de Fuca and became a member of the Oak Harbor Christian Reformed Church and, later, the San de Fuca Chapel. After the death of his first wife, Cassie in 1980, he married Marilyn Fakkema in 1982.

Bill’s interests included fine woodworking, boating, hiking and harmonica playing. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bernice, and his first wife, Cassie.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; sons, William (Marilyn), Robert (Chris) and George (Virginia); his grandchildren, Kristen (Mark), Wendy (Kirk), William III, Paul (Theresa), Darin (Alana) and Jeffrey; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Travis, Amelia and Henry; and a large extended family.

A memorial service will be held on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 6, at the San de Fuca Chapel.
