Stanley Dale Pinkerton

Stanley Dale Pinkerton of Oak Harbor passed away March 18, 2008, at the age of 70, after a sudden illness. He was born July 15, 1937 in Denver, Colo. to Dale and Lola (Morrison) Pinkerton. Stan was a graduate of Renton High School and graduated from Yale University in 1959 with a degree in American Studies. At Yale, he was the drum major of the marching band as well as a member of the Yale concert band, with whom he played in Carnegie Hall.

Upon graduation, he was hired by U.S. Rubber Co. as a management trainee. In 1962 he was transferred to Los Angeles where he was introduced to the burgeoning computer industry. This was the beginning of his life-long interest in computers and his career as a systems analyst. In the 1970s Stan went into partnership with two associates to form a computer consulting company. He moved to Washington in 1984 where he continued his career as a systems analyst until his retirement.

Stan enjoyed taking long motorcycle rides in the Pacific Northwest, which inspired him to develop an interest in photography. He acquired an extensive library of recorded music, ranging from country to big band swing.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons Stanley Dale Jr. and Steven David; grandsons Brian, David, and Blake; sister Joyce Pinkerton Gilkey; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Pinkerton.

A celebration of Stan’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at Whidbey Presbyterian Church. You may share memories with the family at www.westfordfuneralhome.com.
