Sharon A. ‘Sheri’ Hamilton

Sharon Ann “Sheri” Hamilton, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and wife, died at her home in Coupeville on July 17, 2011, at age 63. She was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Ravenna, Ohio to Alvin and Mary Moors.

Raised as a Navy dependent, Sheri and her family followed Dad’s Navy duty stations around the world. Whidbey eventually became her home and this is where she met her future husband Don Hamilton, a fellow Ohio native. They were married in Oak Harbor on May 25, 1973.

Sheri worked at various jobs, including Melco Electronics and with the Coupeville School District lunch program. She was hired in 1986 as a school bus driver for the district, a position she held until she was diagnosed with cancer in 2005.

A very talented craftsperson, Sheri enjoyed making ceramics and selling them at the farmers market, the Navy Exchange at Whidbey and the Post Exchange at Lewis-McChord and at various Christmas sales. Her most recent venture was selling homemade jellies and syrups at the farmers market, a task she dearly loved.

Sheri is survived by her husband Don of Coupeville; five children, Daniel Post and wife Cheri of Mukilteo, Michael Post and wife Sherri of Nashville, Tenn., Michelle Hamilton and David Hamilton of Oak Harbor, and Donald and wife Jamie Hamilton of Hillsboro, Ore.; four grandchildren, Felicia Johnson, Charles Rouse, Ethan Post and Amelia Post; one sister, Pamela Moors of Oak Harbor; and one brother, John Moors of San Mateo, Calif.

A remembrance potluck will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 3259 Old Goldie Road, Oak Harbor, on Saturday, July 30 from 2 to 8 p.m. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www.wallinfuneralhome.com.
