Sandra Zoe Wells died peacefully at home on Aug. 15, 2009, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 64 years old.
Sandra has lived in Coupeville all except six months of her life. She was born in Port Angeles on Oct. 27, 1944, while her father was stationed there with the U.S. Army. The family moved back to Coupeville in April 1945 and she had lived there since.
She was born to David B. and Bonnie Lee (Alexander) Wells, both having preceded her in death, David in 1976 and Bonnie in 2004.
Sandra received her executive secretary diploma from Everett Business College in May of 1964 and began work in the Public Works Department of Whidbey Island Naval Air Station in June of 1964 and worked in many positions until her retirement in January 1999.
After her retirement, her love of needlework led her to join the Coupeville Farmers Market as a vendor under the title of Sandy’s Handiwork; she also was an Avon sales representative and worked for a mail order publications company.
Sandra is survived by her daughter Brianna Wells; son Brien Kedish and his wife TaraLee and her children Ilyshyanna and Nehemiah Myles, and Denver, Oliver, and Fletcher Kedish.
Sandra is also survived by two sisters, Wendy (Rick) Witt of Brewster, Wash., and Joanette (Keith) Joiner of Hot Springs, Mont.; two brothers, David (Jean) Wells of Coupeville and Boyd (Vicki) Wells of Russelville, Ark; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or your favorite charity. Burley Funeral Chapel will handle the cremation and the family will have a private burial at a later date. Sandra’s family will host a Celebration of Life at FourSquare, Saturday, Aug. 29, at noon for family and friends.
