Rorri Child Wakefield, 76, died Dec. 2, 2008 of pneumonia at Whidbey General Hospital with her daughter and friends at her side. She was born and raised in Rochester, N.Y., but lived the majority of her life in Coupeville and Seattle, her latest residence being Careage of Whidbey Island. Rorri was preceded in death by her husband William Wakefield, parents Beatrice Forester and Russell Child, and son-in-law Kenneth Holt Wernz.

She is survived by her children, Roxanne Jorgensen and husband Bob of Coupeville, Diana Garrett of New York, N.Y., and Gary Graef and wife Claudia of Seattle, and grandchildren Skyler and Zane of Coupeville, Harlan and Brianna of New York, N.Y., and Erika and Kristina of Seattle.

A celebration of Rorri’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at Careage of Whidbey Island, 311 NE Third St., Coupeville. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to Whidbey Animals’ Improvement Foundation (WAIF), P.O. Box 1108, Coupeville, WA 98239-1108.
