Rodney Michael “Mike” Smith, 39, a resident of Prairie Grove, Ark., formerly of Whidbey Island, died Sept. 12, 2007, in Prairie Grove, Ark., in a tragic car accident. He was born Jan. 23, 1968, in Edmonds, the son of James and Laurie Smith.

Survivors include his wife, DeeAnna Smith of New Orleans; one son, Kurtis Smith of Prairie Grove; three daughters, Katie Smith of New Orleans, and Kayla Lawson and Kassie Lawson, both of Stanwood; his parents, James and Laurie Smith of Langley; one sister, Jeanne Carty and her husband, Shawn of Bellevue, Idaho; one niece, Sarah Carty of Bellevue, Idaho; and one great-aunt, Loretta Kerr of Oak Harbor.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Sept. 28, at 4 p.m. at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, Langley. Interment to follow at the Langley Cemetery. A reception and celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at the American Legion.
