Robert Lem Riddell

Robert Lem Riddell of Greenbank died on All Saints’ Day at the age of 87 after a massive stroke.

Lem is a World War II veteran having served his country as a submariner on the Finback (SS-230) in the Pacific zone. After the war he married and moved to Seattle where he worked until his retirement in the telephone industry. He also transferred from the Navy to the Reserved Military that involved annual trips from coast to coast to Washington, D.C. It all paid off for he retired after 39 years as a colonel.

During the last 11 years of his life Lem lived on Whidbey Island with his wife Marianne and the dogs.

As well as his wife surviving him, there are his three daughters, Susan, Carol and Mary Kay; four grandchildren, Bonnie, Kristin, Noel and Christopher; and three great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Joey and Dannie. May he rest in peace.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Hubert’s Church, Langley, on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 10.30 a.m.
