Roark T. Plyler, 49, of Coupeville, died suddenly near his Admiral’s Cove home on Saturday, March 20, 2010.

Mr. Plyler was born in Denver, Colo., on Nov. 22, 1960, to John and Carolyn (Threate) Plyler. He was raised in Denver and moved to Portland, Ore., in his mid-twenties. Roark met Iris Black and the couple were married on Nov. 22, 1998, in Newport, Ore. They lived in Toledo, Ore., for three years, and then moved to Whidbey Island.

Roark had been employed by Taco Bell, and he and Iris had recently started their own business, Crystal Clean Windows. He was a skilled artist, and enjoyed chain-saw wood carving, making ornamental chimes, yard art and metal-craft.

Roark is survived by his wife, Iris, at home; his step-daughter, Katelyn Carpenter-Plyler of Coupeville; his mother, Carolyn Plyler, sister Dwana Plyler and niece Lacey Jones, all of Denver. He was preceded in death by his father.
