Rev. Richard Calvin Addison

Rev. Richard C. Addison, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010. He was born Feb. 20, 1935 in Fresno, Calif., to Claud and Grace Addison. After graduating high school at Salinas High he went on to University of Redlands, ultimately graduating with a Masters of Divinity from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

In June of 1959 Richard married the love of his life, Janis Penhollow, and together they raised five children.

During his career Richard (Dick) pastored several churches including First Baptist Church of Azusa, Calif., First Baptist of Oak Harbor, and Faith Community of Oak Harbor, however much of his life was spent as a missionary to Zaire (Congo) and Central Africa.

Richard is survived by Janis, his wife of 51 years; his children, Mark and Cynthia Addison, Philip and Maureen Addison, Kristina and Robert Carrier, Stephen and Sandra Addison, and Daniel and Melisa Addison; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brothers Doug and Kent Addison.

Dick’s heart was to pursue knowing God and to lead others to know Christ Jesus as well. In his service to the Lord he touched and blessed many lives all over the world. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. Dick left a strong example and great path for many to follow. He will be truly missed by countless people at home and around the world.

Graveside services for Rev. Richard Addison were held Aug. 27 at Maple Leaf Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at New Covenant Fellowship with Pastor Ron Eerkes officiating.
