Reuben J. ‘Jim’ Geiszler

Reuben (Jim) Geiszler, 86, of Greenbank, died May 8, 2011. He was born July of 1924 in Gackle, N.D., to John and Christina (Klein) Geiszler. He began his career in construction as a young man in North Dakota. In 1951, he moved to Seattle where he worked in residential construction. He was also a skilled finish carpenter.

Jim moved to Lake Forest Park where he built a home for his own family. He formed a construction company, Chimico Builders, and built homes over much of the Northwest. In 1983, Jim began building a new home in Greenbank which became his permanent residence. He enjoyed hiking, golf and hunting moose, deer and pheasants.

Jim married Liz Gepner on Jan. 21, 1996, and they built a wonderful life together. They enjoyed spending winters in Mesa and summers on Whidbey. They are members of the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church.

Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth and four children; Kathy Geiszler (Doug Wilson) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Maureen Naatus of University Place, Wash., Daniel Geiszler of San Jose, Calif., and Gail Martin (Dale) of Woodinville, Wash.; by five grandchildren, Jill Bruvold, Tracy Weber (Dana), Tara Martin (Noe’ Mayorga) and Hannah and Sam Wilson; and one great-grandson, Benjamin Bruvold. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edgar, Arthur and Albert, and sisters Leontina Spilloway and Lenora Frietas.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity of Island County or a charity of your choice.
