Baseball: Oak Harbor district game postponed

Oak Harbor High School’s district baseball game with Glacier Peak scheduled for today, May 7, has been postponed.

Oak Harbor High School’s district baseball game with Glacier Peak scheduled for today, May 7, has been postponed.

The game has been rescheduled for Monday, May 9, in Oak Harbor at 4 p.m.

By tournament rules, if any one game of a round is rained out, all are rained out.  The Meadowdale at Mount Vernon game was the first to be called, thus ending the day for all eight tournament teams.

The mass postponements are to keep all the teams on a level field, primarily because of pitching restrictions.

Now all of the first round games will be played Monday at 4 p.m.: No. 8 seed Shorecrest (9-11) at No. 1 Shorewood (18-2), No. 5 Meadowdale (7-12) at No. 2 Mount Vernon (15-4), No. 6 Ferndale (15-5) at No. 4 Mountlake Terrace (11-9) and No. 7 Glacier Peak (7-12) at No. 3 Oak Harbor (13-5).

The first two rounds are played at the sites of the higher seed.  The championship game and the game for third

and fourth place will be played at Everett’s Memorial Stadium next Saturday, May 14.  The top three teams earn spots in the regional tournament.

Oak Harbor and Glacier Peak are opposite Mount Vernon and Meadowdale in the bracket.  The winner of each game and the loser of each game play Tuesday, May 10, at 4 p.m. at the higher seed.
