Nedda Anne Rodriguey

Nedda Anne (Muling) Rodriguey passed away Sept. 13, 2008, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Nedda was born in San Francisco, Dec. 12, 1925.

Her parents were Edward and Esther Jane Muling. She attended universities in both Utah and California. On April 13, 1946, she married Edward James Rodriguey and together they had two sons James E. (Jed) and John.

Nedda was secretary and treasurer at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in San Francisco for more than 30 years. She worked for four successive pastors and did far more than her title could ever define.

She has been described as the CEO, CFO and chief cook and bottle washer, and was affectionately labeled as “The grand old lady of St. Peter’s.”

After the death of her beloved husband Ed in 1984, Nedda retired and in 1989, moved to Whidbey Island to be closer to her family.

She served on the library board and the board of WAIF, also supporting them by doing countless loads of laundry.

She loved her home on the island, always had a book in her hand, and a dog or two by her side. Surviving Nedda are sons Jed, John and his wife Gaye, and daughter-in-law Linda; grandchildren Neil, Abbie and husband Bob, Carrie and husband Shawn, Emily and husband Ben, and Sarah; great-grandchildren Robby, Jacob, April, Dalton, Courtney, Turner, Jack, Logan, and Emily and Ben’s baby-to-be; and dear friend and caregiver Debbie Dayton.

In lieu of a funeral Nedda wanted family and friends to celebrate her life at Toby’s Tavern in Coupeville on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WAIF (Whidbey Animal’s Improvement Foundation, www.waifanimals.org).
