Nancy Eileen Chapman

Nancy Eileen Chapman, 70, of Oak Harbor, joined God on April 13, 2008 at Harborview Hospital in Seattle. Nancy was born to Carman Harriet Barrett “Buddy” and Mary Eileen Cavanagh on Feb. 4, 1938, in Hollywood, Calif.

Nancy moved to Oak Harbor in 1994 from Hawaii with her daughter Leslie, a U.S. Navy Chief. Her sister Carroll Allen, whom she had a deep affection for, also resided with her. Nancy was a strong and dignified woman who loved life and never gave up. She was a volunteer at the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Hospital Pharmacy until she became ill, was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and was active in politics. She selflessly gave to many charities and had a true compassion for those in need. Nancy also had a great love for her dog Razz.

Nancy had a beautiful soul, was respected and loved by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by everyone. Nancy will always be in those who knew her thoughts, prayers and daily memories.

Nancy joins her sister Carroll Allen, father Carman, mother Mary, nephew John Reavis and great-nephew Joshua Cravens.

She is survived by her loving daughter Leslie J. Morgan of Oak Harbor, nephew William Cravens and wife Vianney of Orangevale, Calif., nephew Jeff Cravens, Sr. and wife Laurie of Garden Valley, Calif., Nephew Tod P. Cravens of Fresno, Calif., great-nieces and nephews Amber, Colleen, Garrett, Jeff Jr., Michael and Kristal.

There will be a private family and friends celebration of Nancy’s life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Nancy’s name to the charity of your choice. Her family would like to thank Dr. Haigh Fox, Dr. Loretta Standley, Whidbey General Hospital, EODMU-11, Island Home Nursing and everyone who supported her during her fight.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC of Mount Vernon. Cards of condolence may be sent to the family in care of the funeral home.
