Mary Ellen passed away March 25, 2011, at the age of 88. She was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Dan and Kathryn Kenny. She attended Holy Names Academy, graduating in 1940.

Mary spent her working years with Prudential Insurance while at the same time raising a family. In 1979, she married Earnest French and she retired from Prudential in 1985. They lived in Edmonds, wintered in Apache Junction, Ariz., and eventually settled in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. Mary was preceded in death by husband Al Roberts, son Dick Roberts, brothers Dan and Pat Kenny, and sister Kathryn McCabe.

She is survived by husband Earnie, daughters Punki Hofman (George), Mickey McCormick (Ed), Eileen Rudnick, and Pat Johnsen (Herb). Mary also had 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass was held at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 207 N. Main St. Coupeville, on Thursday, March 31.
