Mary Bertha Garcia

Mary Bertha Garcia, 59, of Oak Harbor, went to be with her Lord Jan. 5, 2009, following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Garcia was born in Charlotte, Mich., on Aug. 6, 1949, to Francisco and Ruth (Davis) Trevino. She was raised in the Lansing area. Mary later moved to Lubbock, Texas, where she was employed as a convenience store manager. She moved to Oak Harbor nearly five years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She had an unwavering faith in Christ and attended Common Ground Church in Oak Harbor. Mary was known to have a giving and selfless heart.

Mary is survived by her three children, Maria Hazelo (Tim) of Oak Harbor, Kim Park of Lubbock, and Jesse Cortez, of Huntsville, Texas; four grandchildren, Kris Kaplan and Timothy Hazelo, both of Oak Harbor and Ambria and Jordan Park, both of Lubbock; three great-grandchildren, Tahniya Park, Jazzelle Patton and Jermie Patton; three brothers, John, Rick and Joe Trevino, all of Michigan; four sisters, Kay Weiland of Minnesota and Fran, Irene and Christine Trevino, all of Michigan; also, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Seldon Hazelo, on Feb. 4, 2006, and by four brothers, Danny, George, Frank and Robert.

In keeping with her wishes, no local services will be held. A private urncommittal will take place at a later date in Michigan.
