Marguerite Lienard Walker

Marguerite Lienard Walker of Oak Harbor died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010. A loving sister and friend to many, she will be greatly missed.

Dr. Walker was born in Seattle on Dec. 6, 1916 to Jean Lienard and Elma Wood Lienard. She was raised in Lake Forest Park and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1939. She attended Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, and went on to pursue studies at the University of Washington, receiving her PhD in Art History in 1959.

Marguerite married Jasper “Jay” Walker on June 8, 1963 in San Jose, Calif. The couple lived in Bakersfield where she taught Art History at California State University. Marguerite retired in 1990 and returned to her old home in Coupeville.

Marguerite was a member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Oak Harbor. She was a wonderful painter, and used her love of art to create gardens with flair.

Marguerite is survived by her nephew, Mark Franklin Osberg of Kings Beach, Calif.

A Rite One Requiem Eucharist for Marguerite Walker was held Feb. 19 at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Oak Harbor. Burial was at Sunnyside Cemetery prior to the service. God bless and keep you Marguerite.
