Loretta Jean (Ward) ProcterMay 31, 1962 – September 22, 2023

Loretta Jean (Ward) Procter, aged 61, of Oak Harbor, died suddenly September 22, 2023. “Lori” was born in Pompton Plains New Jersey, the fourth of five children born to George A. Ward and Marilyn A. (Langlois) Ward.

Lori grew up in Staten Island New York where she attended Moore Catholic High School. She ran track and became involved in the Richmond Cadets, a military marching band modeled after the United States Navy. Shortly after high school Lori joined the Navy, where she met her first husband and father of her sons, David Procter.

Later in life Lori became interested in the plight of missing/exploited children. Her research abilities were put to good use in bringing their suffering to the attention of her church and social circles. She devoted her life to helping others in her community and serving through her local churches – she wanted nothing more than everyone around her to know the love of her Lord. She loved paddle boarding, whales, the hammered dulcimer, and spending quiet days with her beloved dog, Dory, in her home on the shoreline of Whidbey Island. Lori spoke adoringly of her time with her neighborhood friends “the Hot Mess Sisters”, and enjoyed visiting life-long friends. She loved to laugh and she strove to be of service in everything she did.

She will be missed.

Lori is survived by her two sons, Kevin (and Leanne of Tacoma, WA) and Matt (and Shelby of Spokane, WA), her seven grandchildren, and sisters of New Jersey and Barbara Fay of North Carolina and Kathy Hager of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Captain Curtis A. Ward of Staten Island and Captain Paul A. Ward of North Carolina.
