Lloyd Edwin Hackerott, USMC (Ret)

Lloyd Edwin Hackerott, born in Alamosa, Colo., on Monday, April 12, 1937, died in Oak Harbor on Saturday, April 16, 2016, peacefully and surrounded by family.

Lloyd enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1955, served one tour in the Vietnam War, volunteered for a second and retired as a gunnery sergeant on Whidbey Island in 1975.

Lloyd loved the Whidbey Island area and all it had to offer. He liked to fish, hunt, pursue other outdoor activities and tend the small Hackerott family farm.

Lloyd is survived by Mary, his wife of 57 years; his brother Carl; his children, Walter, Rebecca, Carl and Kim, and their spouses; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private services were held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Wallin Funeral Home with Chaplain Davis G. Lura, USNR (Ret) and U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard presiding.
