Lila M. Nelson

Lila M. Nelson, 92, of Oak Harbor, passed away on Dec. 26, 2009, after a very short illness.

Lila was born on Dec. 4, 1917 near Lignite, N.D. to Fred and Muriel Pommier. Lila moved to Oak Harbor about seven years ago to be near her daughter Mary Kay (Nelson) Dunnam who preceded her in October, 2009. Her husband, Carl Nelson, preceded her in December of 1993. Lila is survived by her sons, Bruce Nelson of Minneapolis and Pete Nelson of Mill Creek; and her bothers, Gaylen and James Pommier of Bremerton, Russell Pommier of Albany, Ore.,; sister, Mavis (Pommier) Kalmback of Bremerton; son-in-law Craig Dunnam of Oak Harbor, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Carl and Lila were married on March 14, 1936. Subsequent residences included Lignite, Kenmare and Columbus, N.D., Chicago, Park Rapids, Waterville and Minneapolis, Minn., Miles City, Mont., and Apache Junction, Ariz.

Lila was a parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Oak Harbor and an avid member of the Ladies Guild. Lila loved to knit, crochet and read. She will be missed by all including her very good friend Lee Newman in the church guild. In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements are with the assistance of Whidbey Memorial.
