Leona Goldie Keith, age 102, of Oak Harbor, passed away Nov. 1, 2011, at Harbor Tower Village.
Mrs. Keith was born in Kaiser, Mineral County, W.Va., on Feb. 14, 1909. She resided in Kaiser until her late teens. Leona was married to Cloyd Keith, and they lived in Clairton, Penn., near Pittsburgh, for many years. Following his death in 1992, Leona moved to Oak Harbor in 1993. In 2007 she became a resident of Harbor Tower Village.
Leona was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oak Harbor. She enjoyed gardening and had a love for animals, and in earlier years, she also enjoyed traveling.
Leona is survived by one grandson, Richard Rodgers (Linda) of Tigard, Ore.; three great-grandchildren, Melissa, Chelsea and Tyler; one granddaughter, Starla Trivalino, of North Carolina; also by dear friends Tom and Angelie Graham of Coupeville. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard “Fuzzy” Rodgers in 2006 and daughter-in-law Deloris Rodgers in 1998.
Visitation at Whidbey Memorial Chapel will continue Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 to 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at noon at Maple Leaf Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m., Pastor Dave Johnson officiating.
