Kim Dunham: July 1, 1933-January 22, 2024

Kim “Kimie” Dunham, age 91, died at Regency Memory Care in Oak harbor on January 22, 2024.

Kimie was born on Mainland Japan on July 1, 1933. She met and married Bob Dunham in Okinawa, before he was transferred to NAS Whidbey Island, later retiring from the Navy. He died October 1, 2016.

Soon after moving to Oak Harbor, Kimie being lonely, told me she went to several churches trying to find an open door or someone in their office. She said she walked into First Reformed Church and met Kathy Riksen. Kathy and other ladies from the church befriended her and she and Bob became members of the church.

Kimie kept busy at home making costume jewelry, knitting and sewing. She loved her old cowboy movies and also enjoyed baseball on TV. She kept in contact with her friends via telephone. She also loved visits from friends and the Sunshine Visitors from church.

She is survived by her son, Steve Larsen of Oak Harbor.

A graveside service will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery on Wednesday, February 7 at 1PM.
