Homer Oldemeyer: Oct. 28, 1931 – May 22, 2017

Homer Oldemeyer, faithful husband and dad, began his earthly journey Oct. 28, 1931, and completed his earthly journey May 22, with family by his side.

His careers included retiring in 1974 from U.S. Navy as air traffic controller and piano tuner, Island Piano Service, since 1975.

Some of his adventures were earning his private pilot license, logging over 100 skydives, building a trimaran and sailing with his son to Hawaii in 1999.

He rode his recumbent bike around England and went to China alone several times.

Having lived in Oak Harbor since 1969, Whidbey became home for him and his wife Joy and their offspring Bruce, Dinah and Cecelia.

No memorial is planned. In lieu of flowers, please say a prayer for peace.

Our darling Homer “Dutch” will be missed, but he continues his heavenly adventure beyond our sight.
