Guadalope E. Guerzon

Guadalope E. Guerzon, 77, of Mount Vernon, passed away Oct. 22, 2008, at Skagit Valley Hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Burgos, Ilocos Sur, The Philippines, to Julian and Severina (Tamayo) Enriquez. She attended school in the Philippines and graduated from high school there.

On Dec. 20, 1948, she married Gonzolo Gonzales Guerzon, became a homemaker and raised her family in the Philippines, enjoying many social events. In 1992, she and Gonzalo moved to the United States upon his retirement and settled on Whidbey Island. They worked with the Washington Bulb Company, traveled with friends, enjoyed the good life and vacationed in many places.

In 1996, they moved to Mount Vernon, took long walks and rides, enjoyed clam digging and socializing with friends.

Guadalope is survived by four daughters: Delia Higa and husband Yasuitchi of Okinawa; Mica Stewart and husband Mark of Lakeshore, Minn.; Gina Odekirk and husband John of Mount Vernon; and Cathy Guerzon of Mount Vernon; and five sons: Emy Guerzon and Denis Guerzon, both of the Philippines; Ed Guerzon and Lito Guerzon and wife, Jocelyn, all of Mount Vernon; and Gonzalo Guerzon, Jr., of the Philippines. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ernalyn Salazar and husband Alex, Yasuitchi Higa, Chris Dean, Michele Dean, Mackenzie Dean, Gianna Odekirk, Natalie Odekirk, Julius Guerzon and wife Jessa, Dionisio Guerzon, Jr, Christopher Guerzon, Francis Guerzon, Vincent Guerzon, Richard Guerzon, Ray-Mart Guerzon, Christina Guerzon, Warren Guerzon, Totoy Guerzon, Estelle Joy Guerzon and Lexter Guerzon; one step-grandson, John Coulter Odekirk; and four great-grandchildren, Alden and Alijah Salazar and Giselle and Lester Guerzon. Guadalope was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carmen Enriquez; her brother, Benjamin Enriquez; and a daughter-in-law, Elisa Guerzon.

Visitation was held Oct. 24 followed by a Rosary at Kern Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. at Kern Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. Entombment will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum.
