W. Eugene (Gene) Johnson died Thursday evening, Jan. 10, in his home, after an extended illness, with his wife Betty Ann Johnson at his side.

Gene was born in Warren, Minn., to Palmer and Louise (Brown) Johnson on March 4, 1928. Gene was in business in Oak Harbor for many years.

Tentative services are planned at Oak Harbor Elks Club early next week. A private graveside service will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon. A full obituary will follow in the Jan. 16 edition of the Whidbey News-Times. For service information call 675-3192.
