Esther Victoria (Jank) Gaudinier

Esther Gaudinier, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 31, at Careage of Whidbey.

She was born May 15, 1917 in Jefferson City, Mo., to the Rev. Johannes and Louise Jank.

Esther attended schools in Evansville, Ind., graduating with honors from Central High School in 1935.

During her working career she was a legal secretary to the U.S. military at the Nuremburg Trials in Germany following World War II and later worked for Safeco Insurance in Seattle. Esther was a long-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Seattle.

Esther married Bailey “John” Gaudinier in Nuremburg in 1950 and together they raised four children.

Esther is survived by her husband of over 60 years; daughter Laurin Gaudinier of Seattle; son Mark (Aprile) Gaudinier of Coupeville; daughter Lynne Gaudinier (Eddie Bell) of Portland; son Robert Gaudinier of Portland; along with her four grandchildren.

Esther was a pianist and published poet. She loved the Oregon coast, music, animals and the color red.

A memorial service for Esther will be held at The Shelter in Admiral’s Cove (south of Coupeville) at 75 W. Keystone Ave, Coupeville, on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m.
