Elizabeth Paschen Masse, 84, died Oct. 21, 2002, at Good Samaritan Village in Moscow, Idaho. Mrs. Masse was born April 19, 1918, in Chicago to Frank and Caroline Struckmeier Paschen.
She grew up in Chicago where she graduated from Northwestern University. She married John Wolfe in 1941, and they moved to Randolph Field, Texas, where he served in the U.S. Air Force. She moved frequently with her husband and family and lived in many locations in the United States and, for several year, in Puerto Rico.
When John Wolfe died in 1973, she moved permanently to Oak Harbor. In 1978, she married Edward Masse in Oak Harbor. They spent winters in Oak Harbor and summers at Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H.
They later divided their year between Oak Harbor and St. Petersburg, Fla. In 1996, they moved to Good Samaritan Village in Moscow, Idaho, to be near family. Mr. Masse died in October 1997.
Mrs. Masse enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing and other outdoor activities. Visiting with friends and family and playing cards were favorite pastimes. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile.
Mrs. Masse is survived by a son and his wife, James and Kathy Wolfe of Seymour, Ill; and two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Bob Wolters of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Lynn and Vince Murray of Moscow, Idaho. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
A memorial service for Mrs. Masse was held Oct. 23 at Good Samaritan Village. She was buried at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
